When Your Craving for a Gyro Wrap, You Make Your Own

On my free time, I like to try different recipes and get creative in the kitchen. I seen this Turkish bread recipe and decided to try and make it.  Made it for the first.  It was very easy to make. Only took an hour for the dough to rise.  It turned out pretty good.  I decided to make a gyro wrap for lunch.

While the dough was rising, I cut up some chicken breast, marinated it with plain yogurt, garlic, cumin, turmeric, cardamon, cayenne, seasoned with salt and pepper, and a little squeeze of citrus.  I also made a cucumber tzatziki sauce, all from scratch.  Added lettuce, tomatoes, and cucumber to my wrap.  Only thing was missing was cilantro.  It still turned out soo fresh, so good.

Recipe for Turkish Milk Bread

4 cups flour

2/3 cup warm milk

2/3 cup warm water

2 tsp dry yeast

1 tbsp. sugar

1 tsp. salt

1 tbsp olive oil

In a bowl, combine warm milk, warm water, dry yeast, and sugar.  Whisk to combine.  Stir in flour and salt, and start to mix the dough with a spatula.  Then continue to knead it with your hands until dough becomes elastic, and stretchy.

Rub olive oil into the dough until smooth.  Brush some oil on top and cover.  Let sit for 1 hour.

Roll the dough into a ball and divide it into 6 parts, or however and how big you want your bread to be. Roll each piece into a small ball and flatten it with a rolling pin into a round shape.

Heat flatbread for 1 minute or until bubbling on top.  Flip mand cook on the other side for another minute.  Flip again, reduce the heat to low and continue to cook 3-4 minutes or until slightly brown.  Brush each bread with melted butter.  (Optional)

So many uses for this bread.  Could also make pizza.  Just add your favorite marina sauce, cheese and your favorite toppings.

Tzatziki Sauce Recipe

Half a cucumber

salt

yogurt

lemon

pepper

cilantro

garlic

This is my own recipe, as I don't measure when it comes to cooking.  Only thing that is very important in measures is when your baking or making bread, other than that, its all by taste.

Anyways, I used a half cucumber, shredded and add salt.   Let sit in the refrigerator for about 30 minutes.. This helps removing water from the cucumber.  Squeeze out cucumber until its not watery.  Add garlic, yogurt, cilantro, season with salt and pepper, and a squeeze of lemon. Blend in a food processer until smooth.  Refrigerate until ready to use.

Marinated Chicken Recipe

Chicken breast, cut up into little pieces. However little or big you want.

Yogurt

Salt and Pepper

Cumin

Garlic Powder

Cardamon

Cayenne Pepper

Turmeric Powder

Combine all ingredients together.  If you don't know how to use seasonings, you can just add 1/2 tsp for each ingredients.  Go according to your taste.  If you like the strong flavors, then add more.  Season lightly with salt. Marinate for 30 minutes.

After done marinating, chicken is ready to cook.  Add a little oil in the pan, and cook chicken until done.  Put everything together, then you got a yummy gyro wrap.

Veggies used for Gyro Wrap

I just used lettuce, tomatoes, and cucumbers.

I hope you enjoy this recipe.  I have so much leftover over. I'll defiantly making pizza with the extra dough.  So much you can do with this wrap.
